Apply for NUBA Poly-FG Free Solar and Inverter Installation

The Career Service and Polytechnic Advancement Center (CSPAC), Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, has announced the availability of the Federal Government’s FREE Solar and Inverter Installation Training Programme, implemented under the IDEAS Project.

The initiative is a six-month intensive, hands-on training opportunity designed to equip Nigerian youth with relevant renewable energy skills, improve employability, and provide a clear pathway to self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

The programme is open to students and alumni of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, as well as qualified applicants from all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. It forms part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to tackle youth unemployment, promote sustainable energy solutions, and build technical capacity within the fast-growing solar and energy sector.

Programme Objectives

The IDEAS Project is structured to address critical gaps in Nigeria’s technical workforce. Its core objectives include equipping Nigerian youth with practical renewable energy skills, promoting employment, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship, and bridging the technical skills gap currently limiting growth in the solar and energy industry. By focusing on hands-on learning rather than theory alone, the programme ensures participants gain skills that are immediately applicable in real-world settings.

What Participants Will Gain

Successful participants will benefit from a wide range of practical and career-focused opportunities. These include hands-on training in solar and inverter installation, as well as essential skills in maintenance and troubleshooting of solar energy systems. In addition to technical training, participants will receive entrepreneurship and career development exposure, preparing them to either secure paid employment or establish their own renewable energy businesses.

Upon completion of the six-month programme, participants will be awarded a recognised certification, enhancing their credibility and competitiveness in the labour market.

The training also provides a clear pathway to jobs and self-employment, especially as demand for solar energy solutions continues to rise across homes, offices, schools, and industries in Nigeria.

Who Can Apply

The programme is open to Nigerian youth who are unemployed or under-employed and have a strong interest in acquiring technical and renewable energy skills. Applicants must also be willing and available to commit fully to the six-month intensive training period, as the programme is designed to be immersive and practical.
